Title: Declined Once Again
Date Reviewed: 2014-03-30 15:50:26 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: This is my dream card and after a year of waiting I was declined once again. I know that like some other lenders american express is not primarily just fico driven. They have an internal scoring system that probably did not score me out well. I have yet to receive the letter. I have had an Amex gold card for 3 years now. I would like to have a revolving credit line with them as well. scores are as follows- equifax-728 transunion-739 experian-731

Review: This is my third credit card, but my first amex. Highest credit limit with $5,000. They pulled equifax, and FICO was 766 at the time. Was not approved instantly, but a call into the credit approval department got me approved right away. Card was delivered in 5 business days.

Title: In The American Express Family

Review: After getting pre approvals for the Zync, Green and Gold American Express card, I decided to apply for the Blue Sky from American Express and I was approved online. I wanted the credit card and not the charge card because I will always know what my credit limit is. My score is 671. It comes with 0% interest for 6 months. Reading the message boards online I read that it's easier to get the charge card, but I'm happy I got approved for the credit card. This card comes with 7000 reward points which is $100. In a few months I may decide to switch to the blue cash card, but for right now I'm happy with the blue sky because I love traveling.

Review: I received a approval from AMEX for the blue sky card. Good score above 752 equifax... Then I was approved and got the card with a 7k limit... I used it for $1800 and when I got the bill I paid in full... After paying it off I used it like a week later and it was declined. I called them immediately. they told me that you have a high debt on other cards... I told them I pay it off in full every month... She told me to call again when the card canceled dept is open..(they actually have a card cancel dept)... Then I re-checked my credit report and it had a 757 score... Better than before... And total debt owe is 2%. I called the debt cancel dept the next day he told me that your credit score has decreased from before when your card was issued... I told them I have a copy of my recent report and its better than before... Then he told me to talk to a account specialist... She told me it was done because the economy is bad... What are you talking about..3 reps with a different story... I was told to write a letter and maybe able to get the card restored... On the letter I wrote that I don't want it restored but I guarantee AMEX that I will find atleast 5 people with a long time relationship with AMEX to have their accounts closed... I did find them all in my famliy and they closed their accounts... I also gave their names in my letter... Then 3 weeks later I get a letter from AMEX saying your account has been restored and ready to be used again with a 10K credit line. I said I don't want your and everyone in my family don't want it either... We used up to 15k a month for personal and business use and sometimes paid good interest... If AMEX still keeps up with this kind of bull[Edited] it will lose many customers... It will go bankrupt soon in an EXPRESS way... BANK OF AMERICA IS THE BEST!! ITS THE BANK OF AMERICA..

Title: Upgraded

Review: Hi! I applied for and was approved for the Delta Gold SkyMiles Credit Card in August of this year, and just recently upgraded to this card, the Blue Sky Credit Card, after just only 3 months. The process was simple, and even with all the changes AMEX is going through, and the economy, the representative was very helpful and nice, and the process to upgrade took all but 5-7 minutes. My credit line is staying the same, at $1,000, but that is fine, because I do not want to spend more than that in the economic times we are in right now. I am happy to have this card now, because I can apply the points as a statement credit for ANY airline, unlike before, when I was restricted to Delta.

Title: Good Card, Great Customer Service
Date Reviewed: 2008-03-30 01:21:20 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I applied for the Amex Blue Sky in Nov 2007 with less than a year of credit history according to the credit bureaus (and only one card in file) but I had Amex corporate cc (not shown in credit reports) for a bit longer. The online application was very easy and I got a Credit Limit of $5,300 and 6 months of 0% APR un purchases. The card offers good coverage for travel and car rental. The 1$ = 1 point and 7,500 point redeemable for $100 towards travel is a good deal though it is not as powerful as the Amex Membership Rewards which allow you to convert points in to miles with several airlines. It is equivalent to a 1.33% cash back no yearly limit on this perk. You get $100 only once you have spend $7,500. The AMEX web site for account management is the best I have seen so far and customer service very knowledgeable and pleasant on the phone. One not totally positive point: Amex tends to take some time to report payments and balances to at least 2 of the credit bureaus. I will see if I get an automatic CLI after 6-months of history. Conditions of application Revenue: around $100k/y Limited credit history but scores in the 720-737 range. Experian pulled Instant online confirmation CC - Amex Blue Sky - received in a week.

Title: AMEX Pre Approval

Review: Ok, I'm still in shock about this one... I've had the Amex Gold Rewards Card for about 10 mos... Great card and it keeps me "legal"'cause I HAVE TO pay if off every month... Anyway, the Blue card was on my "wish list" and a 3weeks ago the pre approval letter showed up in my mailbox... I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!!... I got online and was instantly approved but only for $1000 initial limit... Oh well, you can't have EVERYTHING at once... I will wait for the CLI...:-)
