Review: My Husband was approved for this card last Saturday, after he applied for a Discover. It said that he was declined for a Discover, but that he was eligible for this counter offer. I told him to take it and at least get his foot in with the Discover logo. HSBC services this card and they only gave a $ 300.00 limit, but the rate is 2.9% x 12 months, then like 12.9%. So the rate is not bad... Got the card 6 days after being appoved.

Review: I originally applied for a Discover card. I was not elgible for it so they offered me a Discover Direct rewards card from HSBC. It has a $19.00 annual fee. I think it is great for my situation, because I ran my credit score down from applying for so many cards. They started me out with $300.00 I applied for this card on 11/02/2007 I always wanted a Discover card!!

Review: I applied for the discover More Card... I wanted to Transfer 2500 off my cards for the 12 month no interest... But discover said I couldn't get they're card but I was approved for this card... They gave me 10 months no interest on balance transfers. Ok ten months is more then enough time to pay my bill off... But the purchase interest rate is 18%... If I accept this card when it arrives 18% will be my highest rate out of all my cards. Well first off what kind of company is HSBC... If I transfer my balance to them will they look for any excuse to take alway my 0% interest rate and charge me 18%? And how is there online pay?... I have: Washington mutual Visa: 500 limit with 14% Citi platinum select MasterCard: 2000 limit with 13% sonoco MasterCard: 1000 limit with 16% So what do you think guys keep this card when it comes or get rid of it... And one more thing is this card a lead in for the real discover card.. thanks steve

Review: I know I should not have done it. I know what happens when I get bored... They approved @750.00. That makes three HSBC accounts. I am in the process of closing some other sub prime accounts and I know I will get a FICO hit but I have obtained some better accounts this year. Time for Spring Cleaning and stop applying...

Title: Unsure Whether Or Not To Keep...

Review: I applied for a Discover online but they declined me, and offered the Direct Rewards. I closed the webpage. They then sent me an e-mail, asking for me to call them for verification. I called, they verified, and declined me again, and tried to push the Direct Rewards. I declined again. This morning, I got another e-mail. I called again, and asked if they would please stop bouncing me e-mails. They offered AGAIN the Direct Rewards with the 2.9% intro for 6 months, 19.99% thereafter. $59 APR, but a cl of $300, which would be my lowest cl on my cards. She said she would send me the card, and if I did not use the card I would have 90 days to choose whether or not to keep it. Of course, if I decide not to keep it I have no obligation to the af. I'm torn about this. I have 2 cards with Citi (no af), 1 with Chase (no af) and one with C-1 ($39 af that I waive). I've never done any banking or business of any sort with HSBC. I'm indecisive on whether or not the af is worth keeping for a card that I would probably only charge my movie rentals to. I'll have to look over the T&C to see if it's worth it.

Review: I got this card through a mailbox solicitation over 2 years ago. At the time it was fantastic for rebuilding cause my credit was butchered and they gave me 600 bucks with no annual fee. I got the card right before I went on a cruise, had a blast, paid it off and waited for the limit to increase. Never late, but two years later and I'm still at that same 600 bucks. It's been in the sock drawer for a while now cause I've about had it. Does any one know how to get some love on this one? Thanks, cause I'd hate to close an older tl. Customer Service is bad, but I can live with it as long as they report accurately and give me cliiiisss!!

Title: Good Card

Review: I got the Direct Rewards Discover card after being turned down for a Discover card. My card has a very low credit limit $300 dollars, and a very high annual fee $59. I'm thinking about canceling the card very soon. I have been a customer with HSBC for a long time now, and I have always had AFS, but I have never been late with a payment. Also I have had trouble with the customer service department. I have had my card taken from some young kid from my purse at the swimming pool. They went to Target and spent about $290. I have made so many phone calls to their customer service for about 3 months, and not getting any investigations or credits. Finally they send me a fraud form, and I fill it out and send it back, only then do I get a credit. The only thing about this that I didn't get is that Target did a charge back (? I think that's what its called) meaning that Target gave the bank the money back well before they gave it back to me. Before I decided to cancel I would like to see if they will increase my credit limit, because it's a good card. I also can't get the 'rewards' section of the webpage to work. I was trying to see how many points I have and it won't let me.

Title: Okay

Review: I've had this card for 9 months and it's okay. I just paid off my 0% BT that I greatly appreciated, but I see no growth to my initial credit line. As for rewards, they are joke. I'll use the card every once and awhile to keep active, but that's about it. If you're really craving to have a Discover network card and have been turned down for a "regular" Discover (or blacklisted), than go for this one. Otherwise, don't bother. Mediocre.

Review: I just received my new card in the mail today. Im very happy to have a card with the Discover logo, even though this card is issued by HSBC. I originally applied for a regular Discover card and was denied but they said I was approved for the Direct Rewards, so I thought what the heck. I just called to activate the card and wanted them to remove the $59 annual fee. At first they said there was not anything they could do and then wanted to start in on the account protection, so when he was done with his little script I simply said, "Well how can I afford account protection when I have to pay $59 a year just to have the card"? His attitude completely changed and he asked me to hold while he checked on my annual fee. When he came back he said the AF had been returned to my card and wanted to know if I was interested in account protection. I told him to go ahead and sign me up ( I can cancel within 1st 30 days anyhow) and so then all was good. I told him thanks and ended the call. My credit score was a 598 when I was approved for the card so I was surprised. I filed BK in 2005 due to unforseen circumstances and I can honestly say this is a place I never want to come back to again, (bankruptcy that is), it has been so hard. The future is looking bright though, so I guess I'll just "keep truckin" as they say. I love this website and read from it everyday since I have found it and benefitted from it, so hopefully this benefits someone else.

Review: Due to job loss and now going into my new career have been working to better my credit now. Had a Discover card many years ago and as others said was approved for this card with $1500 cl. I have already had a HSBC Platinum for last 2 years with $1100 cl. Never have had any problems with HSBC. New to the site and first post. Take care everyone and thanks for all the info I have read on everyone’s experiences.

Title: Great Card!

Review: I applied for a Discover card in June and got denied, but received the offer for this card instead. My CL is $600, no AF, interest 21.99%. I tried again for another Discover this month and ended up with another Direct Rewards card. This one had a $300 cl, no AF, still at 21.99%. When I received the card I called to have them combined to give me a $900 cl, but they combined them and gave me an extra $300! My new cl is now $1200 in only 3 months! I will definately keep this card!

Title: Accepted

Review: My credit scores are in the mid sixties and last week I received an invitation to apply for the discover more card. I applied and was declined but received an offer for the direct rewards platinum so I accepted it. 0.00% Intro APR on Balance Transfers for 10 months and No Annual Fee was the terms with a 300 cl is a keeper and will make small purchases and pif. I've read great reviews for this card and will write my experiences with it on the forums in the future.

Title: Third Card
Date Reviewed: 2008-11-21 16:41:44 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I have applied for a regular Discover card and have been offered and approved for three of these cards in a three month period, so far I have been allowed to combine them, giving me a combined credit line of $900.00 with a waived annual fee of $59.00! It really pays to Discover with HSBC! Happy Holidays

Title: Absolutley The Worst! CLI? HELP!
Date Reviewed: 2008-12-04 22:56:01 | Recommended?: No

Review: My credit report contained some inaccurate information when I applied for the regular Discover card back in 2007. I was declined for the regular Discover and was counter offered this card. Once I discovered the inaccurate information on my credit report, I promptly had it removed and re applied for the Discover card and was approved in April, 08. I absolutely LOVE my ACTUAL DISCOVER CARD. It's a shame this card shares the Discover logo. They are absolutely polar opposites. HSBC is the worst bank on the planet and gives the worst credit limits. This HSBC card was my first credit card. Back then they approved me for a $300.00 credit limit which I see is famous here and a $19.00 annual fee. Well guess what? Almost 2 years later and no credit limit increase despite a perfect account history with HSBC. My credit score is 729 and I have an actual Discover with a $4,000.00 limit and a CITI card with a $3,000.00 limit. HSBC does not allow for requests to increase your credit line but instead give you a scripted response that they will periodically review accounts for CLI's. This frustrates me because this account WILL NOT grow with you! I get so mad at the HSBC representative, I wish I could just close the card but I can't since it's my first credit line and that would look bad and would really hurt my score. I have tried every thing I know to do to get them to increase my credit line and they won't. In the past four months, I have paid off my balance each month in full when my statement cuts. I have always made my payments on time and always pay more than the minimum. Does anyone have this card who has actually got a credit limit increase from them? Is there a special number I can call to get someone worth talking to? Sorry to rant but don't accept this card. It's horrible!!! Wait for the actual Discover! It is absolutely the BEST!

Title: Alternative To Regular Discover CC

Review: I originally responded to a pre-approved Discover card I got a responce that unfortionaly bla bla bla... But to my surprise it had a link to click here for this other offer. I thought ok what do I have to loose at this point I selected it and was told that I was approved for the HSBC discover card. 750 cl the rewards are one point for every dollar you spend. I have had this card for about 7 months with no cli not that I expect any soon. This card is not bad but Discover is not taken or reconized every where like Visa or Master card.

Title: Just Got It
Date Reviewed: 2008-12-24 09:58:30 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I just got approved for this card, (1500 cl, and 18.99 apr, $39 af.) I am recovering from a 6 month layoff earlier this year and got behind in several house payments, but currently am on the right track. I was amazed that I got approved as I am in a Debt Management Program, (half way through), yet received such a credit limit. I guess things are looking up. HSBC applied my af to my card immediately, however I paid it the next day, (and now have a $1 credit... Whooohooo!) I noticed on several reviews / comments that there is a hold placed when dining out and with gas. My plan is to use this card for groceries, gas, incidentals, and then pay it every two weeks, (when I get paid, HSBC gets paid based on how much I have spent.) Any comments on this plan of action, (i. E. Paying every two weeks versus every month.) Any info would be great! Also... This website rocks!!!

Title: Dissatisfied Customer
Date Reviewed: 2010-08-05 07:46:46 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: This is by far the WORST credit card that I have ever had. I was decline the actual Discover Card and received this card with annual fee of $49, which I could handle. My problem is whenever you make payments over the minimum for the month they will hold your payment in a pending status up to 14 days because of suspcious activity. You would think that would be a plus. With Am Ex you have to pay your balance in full the folllowing month. With Direct if you pay bigger payments I was told that my payment was being held just in case there was money laudering going on, I was offended in the worst way because I pay my bills on time. HSBC is a horrible bank. I have credit cards with many companies this is by far the WORST. I will be closing this one out and try for an actual Discover later. PLEASE PLEASE don't accept this card.

Review: As part of my card gardening I applied for a Discover card, I was declined for the Motiva, but offered this card instead. The information said there would be no additional hard pull. There was not any information listed in reguards to fee / rate. Since there is no additional hard inquiry I accepted the offer. I do not know the limit / rate / fees yet, but will update once I get the card... Pulled EFX 656 score.
