Chase Sony Visa®
Ratings:

Low Confidence in Their Ability

Reviewer: Sometimes Frustrated Date: June 7, 2006 Rating:

My personal experience and interaction with Chase so far has consisted of the following:

(1) Being placed on hold for extended periods of time. (I once had to wait a little over 40 minutes just to get a customer svc rep on the line... thankfully I have a speaker phone so that I could do other things while not cradling the phone up.)

(2) Poorly trained customer svc reps. Approximately 85% of the ones I've spoken to were not as knowledgable with the products and services (e.g. how to redeem your Sony points) as a customer would like. I've also encountered instances where the rep would transfer me to incorrect extensions/departments. There was even one instance where one rep placed me on hold after each question I asked, which led me to assume she was "looking" up the answers somewhere in a manual, when all I wanted to know was if they could lower my APR rate, which leads me to point number three.

(3) High APR rates (as compared to other credit card companies).

(4) Never really know who owns the Sony Visa program. With every merger/acquisition of credit companies... I get a letter in the mail informing me of their new bank and the new agreement terms.

--------------------------------------------------

Unless you are planning on buying a lot of Sony products, I would not recommend this card.

For someone like me, the occasional Sony purchaser... it's not worth the time, cost, or aggrevation for the benefit of saving a few bucks on Sony products. (I've learned that now.) As for the % cashback you can receive, I have found other credit card companies that have better promotions.

Overall, I would not recommended Chase to my friends/family, as I lack a high level of confidence in their ability.
