Providian Visa Platinum®
Ratings:

Liars and thieves

Reviewer: AM Date: October 10, 2007 Rating:

This company lowered my limit without warning and then I ran up all sorts of fees believing I had the same limit.

I paid off the whole thing anyway.

But unbeknownst to me, they had closed thje account so I had no access to new credit, but they kept billing me anyway (for $1!!!) and reporting it to the credit bureaus.

Jerks.

Unfair

Reviewer: ksk1234 Date: January 15, 2005 Rating:

I started with Providian about 3 years ago with bad credit. My interest rate 29.99% and I had a fico score of 620. Since then I have experienced credit increases 500.00 every 6 months and my most recent fico score on there website was 766. Its so unfair that they can raise your interest rate when you miss a payment, but they don't decrease you interest rate, when you show improvement on your fico. Since then I have been able to get better interest cards and will be closing this account. They won't be missed.

Paying Every Month For Years

Reviewer: Hurlston V. Graham Date: January 10, 2005 Rating:

Providian is not a fair Credit Card Company. I paid my bill each month without a hitch for years and one day I receive a notice in the mail that my account was been sold to Aspire with an increase in the intrest rate from 17% to 31% my good record of payments for years did not help. I later found out that my back payment on my child support was the cause for Providians actions. GOOD JOB PROVIDIAN KICK A MAN WHEN HE IS DOWN. "America say no to Providian".

Surprise! You're Dead!!!

Reviewer: Lee Date: January 6, 2005 Rating:

I opened my account in 1999. I was divorced in 2001. Late 2001 I got a letter in the mail addressed to "The Family Of Lee" informing my heirs and the executor of my estate that Providian was sorry to hear about my death, now who is going to pay the balance? Every 3 months for the next 3 years I would get letters like this. My account was closed, re-opened, closed again and finally sent to a collection agency. Providian would not accept my payments, this would mean I was alive. Since they refused my payments, they charged me late fees and reported me as delinquent. This nightmare has cost me thousands in legal fees and a poor credit rating. I think (hopefully) that everything has been corrected with them now, but my credit still sucks. JUST SAY NO TO PROVIDIAN
