Title: Stop Complaining And READ

Review: I constantly read complaints about this card. I don't see what the big deal is. I have the card and I have had no problems. Unfortunately, some of us have bad credit and have to take what we can get. I noticed on a lot of the other reviews, everyone is so surprised about the fees. Continental is very upfront about the fees that you have to pay. That is why you must READ people READ. Every single fee is laid out in black and white under the Terms & Conditions. Even when you call to activate your card, the automated system discusses all the fees before even allowing you to speak with a representative for activation. If you are trying to repair your credit, this is a good card. You can opt out of the automatic fee increases if you don't want to pay the $25 fee. Again, this is fee is discussed in the Terms - you have to read. The card is great. You don't have to have $300 upfront like for a secured card and the first minimum payment is only $50. I say try it. Customer service 1-800-518-6141.

Title: What Can I Say?

Review: I have never been given the run around by any company like Tribute. No matter what question I asked... They gave me the same answer. I kept asking them... Where is the $30 activation fee that I sent and why is the card not activated and they kept telling me over and over that it takes 4 business days AFTER they receive my payment to activate the card BUT my question was... Where is my payment? It has been approximately 3 weeks and still nothing and now they say that when they do receive my payment... It will be another 4 business days! Why would this take so long? I sent my payment WITH the payment coupon to the P. O. Box in New Jersey and from there I do not know happened. I sent a money order which is another horror to trace. I feel like this thing will never be resolved because talking to the reps...(I seem to get the same one all the time) is useless. Has anybody just not been able to get their card activated after sending in the fee to the P. O. Box?

Title: I Like It

Review: Had this card since March 08. Started out with $70.00 overall credit line. I didn't really care because I was rebuilding my credit. My g/f told me to throw it out because it's a waste of time, but I'm up to $310.00 now because they give you an increase every month for the first year if you let them deduct the minimum payment from your checking acct. I had no idea until I kept noticing my limit increasing first by $30 dollars then by $50 dollars then by $75. I called CS and they explained that I get increases every month for the first year, no credit limit caps, I could use this card at the pump, and I pay no over the phone fees to make a payment. The downfall is I pay $19/month for maintenance fees totaling $228.00/year and $15.00/annual fee. I am closing out my other two credit cards, Rewards 660 and Continental Finance after they are paid in full and just work with this one, I like them the best so far. I would definitely recommend this card for those re-establishing their blemished credit, though I believe you would have to apply for a Tribute card now, the Imagine card is no longer being issued.

Title: Paid In Full And Closed Acct...
Date Reviewed: 2008-09-12 15:08:52 | Recommended?: No

Review: I paid this card off and closed the account today. The fees are ridiculous, the customer service is horrible, sometimes you can not get a live CSR on the phone at all. I finally found a number, called them up paid it in full and closed them out. They were nice enough to waive the Western Union fee so in 30-60 days, I'll be getting a whooping refund of $8.95, I'm set for life. But to be fair, I did have two late payments on my acct during the year I had this card, which is probably why I never received a CLI. Doesn't matter, I have an Imagine Gold MasterCard which is MUCH better, which baffles me because these cards come from the same bank... Wierd huh?

Title: To Close Or Not To Close??
Date Reviewed: 2008-09-13 03:33:02 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I have had this card for two years. The fees are outrageous and my credit line maxed @ $900. However I was extremely diligent at making large payments and NEVER being late, even if I had to pay the ridicul ous $4.95 online payment fee!! With a lot of due diligence of paying off some old medical bills, getting my student loans in order, buying a car and never being late on the payment (also with a ridiculous interest rate), my credit has been restored. This card did help in re-establishing credit albeit at a serious cost. However, I blame no one but myself for my credit score being in the 500's when I started to dig out. My FICO is now around 740 and am carrying AMEX and CITI AAdvantage. I REALLY respect my credit and don't EVER want to go backwards again!!! To all of you credit gurus out there, is it now wise for me to close this account. I carry no balance but still get charged an account maintenance fee and will shortly be charged the annual fee... STUPID!! BUT, I don't want my FICO to get hit too hard, it could cause major problems with AMEX. I am still new to AMEX and establishing a relationship with them. I have read horror stories about FICO scores going down and then getting hammered by AMEX. Should I keep this for another year and pay these ludicrous fees just to safeguard my FICO???? Also, does the new formula for computing the FICO now take into consideration that AMEX doesn't report limits? Please advise!!!

Title: Not Satisfied With This Card!!!

Review: Never sign up for this card. They are just a bunch of parasites. They are charging you for a account maintenance fee, online payment fee. And to anybody of you that have a tribute account, close it. I have an account with them and yes I will closed this account.

Title: Stay Far Away From This Company
Date Reviewed: 2008-11-01 10:55:40 | Recommended?: No

Review: To give you an idea of how bad this company is, several states forbid this company to even offer the card to their residents. The various fees (and they have several) are frequentl and outrageous. The interest rate is the maximum allowed by law. Customer Service is outsourced to India, and it's hard to understand anybody or get them to understand you. If you do get this card, don't ever let the balance (including fees and interest) go over the limit or ever pay even one day late, because you will get hit with charges that you wouldn't believe. Understand that there is a minimum of four business days from the time they get payment until the time it clears their system, and if it isn't cleared in their system, you WILL get charged a late and/or over-limit fee. Better yet, stay far away from them.

Title: Tribute Credit Card

Review: Im outraged with this credit card. Ive have the card for almost 2 years. I have perfect pay history but they said they closed the account because of delinquency or over the limit status. Out of the two years September I went over the limit which I paid the amount due on time. So this was their reason... One month that I went over the limit

Title: Increase To $15/month!
Date Reviewed: 2008-11-26 16:56:49 | Recommended?: No

Review: I've had this card for a year, and just got an e-mail telling me that their maintenence fee will be raised to $15/month (!!!) as of December 15. I've stuck with this crappy card for a year (opened 11/08), but have to admit that they never did me wrong, and never had a problem wiht the. I've been thinking about getting rid of it, and now an increase to $15/month (which I think is ridiculous!), is making me pull the trigger... I"m actualy glad they are raising it so it makes my decision easy. After a year my limit is only $450. I have since gotten cards from Hooters, Capital One, HSBC, Citi, and Barclays with much larger limits.Bye, Bye Continental Finance!!

Title: FEES RAISED 3 TIMES!!!
Date Reviewed: 2008-12-01 13:08:26 | Recommended?: No

Review: Just wanted to let you guys knowthat I've had this card for 1 1/2 years. While it has helped me rebuild my credit, the fees are just unbearable. When I first got the card, the monthly maintenance fee was $9.00, then they raised it to $12.00, and now I just got a notice that they are raising my rates again to $15.00!!! I WILL HAVE TO PAY $15.00 PER MONTH JUST TO HAVE THEIR CARD... I don't know howthey get away with it. I am going to decline the fee and the card will be canceled (with my ability to pay the card off normally)

Review: There are several reasons you should not sell your soul for this card. 1. Their customer service is less than friendly and are of no help at all. 2. Their reward system well it doesn't really exist. 3. They will charge you for everything. A. To make a pymt online, or over the phone 4.95. They don't tell you this until the very very end ***I suggest enroll in online bill pay through your bank or sending in either a check or money order. 4. You must check and make sure they are reporting to all three credit bureaus. Mine wasn't This is the worst mistake of your life. Review: I just got approved for this card and I received it about seven days. When I called to activate the card the customer service representative was friendly and courteous. The fees are all laid out in plain English. I am just grateful at being given a chance to improve my credit history. There are a number of reasons why a person may have bad credit. It is not always the same with everyone. This card gives a person a chance to rebuild a credit history. The rewards will come in time. Every card has good and bad to it. All of my cards are rebuilders and have fees but I am just grateful for the second chance.

Title: BEWARE - WARNING!!!
Date Reviewed: 2009-01-08 20:05:14 | Recommended?: No

Review: I received my credit report recently and I noticed that my Tribute Gold account is in a closed status. When I called to ask them what happened they informed me that all Tribute card holders were sent a letter stating their accounts have been closed. The representative continued to advise that this letter should have been sent to me (I still have no such notification) and that this does not effect my credit. I advised her that I am applying for a loan and that I needed to have this line of credit as verification of my good payment history and I needed to have an open account that is revolving. As is the case now... It comes off like I've been closed for non-payment or delinquent when I have had the best of payment history with them. As a matter of fact, just recently I got a credit increase from $300 to $500! They even charged the annual fee... Just to cancel on me without notification. The rep then offered to send me a letter saying that my account is closed simply because the bank is no longer carrying Tribute cards. My second reason for calling them was that on my report it stated that in June I was 30 days. This is absolutely untrue! I requested that they remove that derogotory information from my report immediately. They asked that I call a different number to discuss that issue. I did just what they asked... And wouldn't you know that they are now claiming (just as others are reporting) that Tribute is alive and healthy as a company but that my account (in particular) was closed at their discretion for a late payment made in July! Again, no such thing has occured on my end! I have made my payments on time and even paid twice in one month. I requested my letter saying that this account was closed in good standing, and asked them to correct their discrepancy in reporting to the 3 bureaus. They declined to do either. I asked for a transcript and/or recording of our current conversation, and the conversation of 01/07/09 because I was advised that my conversation was being taped for qc purposes and I would like to have it. I was given a supervisor who told me he would have to search for it and call me back. You probably already guessed that I have not had a call back since! If I don't get resolution within 5 business days I will be filing a complaint with the FCC http://esupport. Fcc. Gov/complaints. Htm and the BBB https://odr. Bbb. Org/odrweb/public/complaintlink.aspx. I suggest that if your having the same or similar problem that you do the same.

Review: I've only had my card for a few months now but the charges are outrages! I have a line and it won't take long to use it up at these rates. My first payment was due on 12/6/08 Of $20.00, I made it on 12/8/08 without realizing the due date, so when I received my next statement said my next payment was $71.09. Upon calling the transactions were as follows: $20.00 payment 20.00 late fee 20.00 next payment 9.95 monthly account maintenance fee 1.14 cardsafe (I didn't know I had to have it) ------- $71.09 But I could go ahead and make a phone payment while she was on the line for an additional $14.00, I said she was crazy! (that's almost a full payment)Then my next option would to make a payment online with a charge of $4.95, which I did on 12/28/08. So you really have no options with this company where it's not going to cost you more and more on top of their already outrages finance charge. I'm paying this thing off in Feb. And canceling the account myself, I didn't need their card to start with.

Title: 3 Month Update

Review: I got this card with 2 others on the road to recovery. Yes the fees are high but the fault is my own. I have had no problems with the card. They report monthly and live up to what was promised. The only thing I do not like is that when you make a payment with a debit card on the internet they add the amount of the payment to your current pending charges. For example: Your CL is 300, you have a balance of 150 dollars, and you make a payment for 100 dollars then your new current CL will be 50 dollars for 7 days exactly for the payment to process. Make sense?? That is the only bad thing, but it doesn't count you over the limit if you do so by fault of payment, or monthly service fee. So far so good though my current limit is 300 and I got the card with my EQ and EX both in the 480's. No nightmare stories yet, honestly I think the reason some people post bad reviews about the card is because they default on payment do not read the terms cleary, or go over the limit. So far I am satisfied and on the road to recovery. Also customer service has always been friendly. The online website is free to access and up to date as far as recent transactions go. Hope this is helpfull.

Review: I have had a TRIBUTE Master Card for over (2) years. In the beginning the only problem was when I initiated calls to "customer service" - Their call center is located in India! 99% of the time they have no idea how to begin to answer ANY question you have. They attempt to fool card-holders using American names- Once I was connected and the guy stated his name was BUBBA. For service when you dial the number on your card DO NOT enter any information at the automated prompts- Just hold the line for a few minutes and again do NOTHING- you will be connected with a live person. When they start asking for your card information ***CUT THEM OFF ADD SIMPLY SAY- CONNECT ME TO THE U. S. A.*** Then you will get a representative in our country. I had a MAJOR issue that occurred in 09/2008- Hertz Rental Car, Inc. Slammed my TRIBUTE card with a $2,500 Fraudulent charge. My vehicle was totaled in an accident and I had $50.00 per day rental coverage that my insurance company paid for the entire time I had the rental. (6) days. TRIBUTE and myself went rounds for months about the charge that should have not been placed on my account. They closed the account and I continued to make payments on THE AMOUNT I ACTUALLY OWED. One day out of the blue their collection department called on 02/15/2009 and I was not happy with them and picked up the phone -saying "Yes, How May I assist you. The rep. Stated he was calling about my account- I cut him off - telling him "I am not paying a penny more that I owe, You can keep the account in collections and I am not even filling out your dispute from and don't dial my number again. (as I paused to get my breath) He said he was calling to advise me the account had been re-opened, The Hertz charges were removed and my credit limit has been increased. I accepted the offer of reopening the account, however I am now going to "Close The Account At The Consumers Request". I would never do business with TRIBUTE EVER! I have several numbers retained from my caller ID if anyone would like them E-mail me. They go to TRIBUTES collection department and the other to their account executive offices. YOU can get results speaking with them instead of the people in India-Believe me! Ken

After submitted my application, got a call from customer service asked my couple income questions and I told the rep that I have good income and I'm an au for this card on wife account. Rep didn't speak good English but we were able to understand. Rep told me that I was one of their select few platinum customers. I don't why she said that???

Title: Too Many Fees

Review: There are too many fees attached to this card: pay by phone, online, over limit, and late fees. The fees themselves are not the issue but the amount, 4.95 to pay online, 4.95 to pay by phone, $35 for over the limit and late fees. $85 annualy and $6.50 ( oh, it went up to 10.00) maintenance fee. More than I want to pay. To top all that off you can not get the phone number unles you do your own search for it online. It is not on the bill.

Review: I was checking my balance today and noticed that Tribute raised my credit limit to $600.00! I started out with a $300.00 credit limit and they kept increasing my limit every six months like clock work! If you make all your payments on time and stay within your credit limit they will reward you! I did have to pay another $150.00 annual fee and I am sure that's what they used to give me my increase, you gotta love it!

Review: Tribute has decided to end its program and notifying customers via mail. I was informed today after my card was declined that they have been closing accounts for various reason in the last year and recently the decision was made to no longer offer the card and to discontinue the program. I was sent a letter that is enroute to me now from tribute. I had available credit, paid on time, never over the limit--so I called and asked what happened and I was informed that it was nothing that I did wrong. I was about to reach the one year mark. I am not down about it. Although, I was trying to improve my credit with it. Well, I still have my first premier and household bank credit cards. I have a lot of inquiries on my credit and my scores are 560 EQ, 569 EX, and 550 TU and I have a lot of blemishes on my credit. I am not going to apply for any new credit for at least 2 years. I got to let inquiries fall off. I may get one or two secured cards. In the near future. Such as Public Savings Secured Card (which I heard was great or the last in line, New Millenium. I tried all the big names that offer secured cards and they denied me. Bank of America, WellsFargo, Citi, and so on. All denied, but I understand the banking idustry is putting a halt on credit esp for bad credit risks. I heard that first premier and household bank both offer second cards. How long will it be (if any of you know) before I am sent a notification that I can apply for a second one?

Title: Worst Credit Card Experience
Date Reviewed: 2009-11-12 10:53:41 | Recommended?: No

Review: This has been the worst credit card experience of my life! I had paid for debt protection while having this card for one year - I never missed a payment (however, payments - when made - take more than a week to post to the credit card account). I lost my job and had to activate the debt protection feature. I called two weeks before the bill was due - to activate and to explain that I could not pay. They told me I had to fill out forms (which I never received) and then I had to keep up minimum payments (which, by the way - never are enough to keep you from getting over limit fees - no matter what you do). Now, all debt protection paperwork has been appropriately filed and all is supposed to be okay and at promptly 8:00 am every morning, we receive phone calls from their collection department. I have filed harassment charges against them, and the phone calls do not stop. If I was in a position to pay it off, close the account, and walk away, I would in a hot second. Do not go with this credit card company - it will be the worst experience of your life.

Review: Tribute Credit Card bought my Imagine Account, which was in good standing. However, my Tribute Card was canceled before using the Card. Triubte continued to charge me a "Maintenance Fee", which is charged to the account after the first transaction. Since I never used the card, I called Tribute. Useless. So, I contacted the Better Business Bureau and within 30 days the complaint was investigated and all fees were reversed and waived during the time I am paying off the card. Thank you "Better Business Bureau"! You saved me hundred of dollars! Please contact them online if you have any Credit Card complaints! We can fight back! Thank you. Carolee
