Title: Love Target!
Date Reviewed: 2018-01-20 16:11:05 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I closed on my home last year (smiling). We live close by a super target so I decided to see about getting a card. I applied in store @ oct17 and was approved for $500. I love the everyday 5% off and I save a lot with the new "cartwheel" in their app. Lots of coupons and discounts. I pay on time and mostly in full so no issues with the card. I had a target card previously but they closed it ($200 limit) for inactivity. I'll be using this one heavily so I won't have to worry about that. The limits are very low as expected, but I'm use to it. I'm not sure of my score at the time, maybe high 600s

Review: Filed BK-13 in 2006, had to include Target, applied a few weeks ago and got the 7-10 day notice, I felt it meant I was being declined, but the card came and was approved for $500 limit. Seems things are finally turning around for me

Title: Approved After Being Denied Two Years Back.
Date Reviewed: 2014-06-27 10:25:04 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: Target denied me two years back for having lack of revolving credit history, so I decided to try again on a whim. EQ has one baddie (a collection), several good TL's with AAoA over two years, 21% UTIL, 6 inquiries (most from 2012). EQ08 score 655. Was instantly approved at the register, $400 limit. Was able to charge to the card and get my 5% off (though that barely covers the sales tax here) and since the purchase was only $12 I went over to Guest Services and paid it off right then. Plan on using this often since there's a Target close to my house. Glad to add to my store card arsenal.

Review: I've had this card for two years and its great. I've only gotten one CLI but its ok I guess. I hear many people aren't even getting decent limits on theirs when they open an account. I started off at 1k and they increased it to $1.5 k after 8 months.

Title: Received An Increase

Review: I got my Target card in 2005. I started with a $200 credit limit and a 21% APR. I received my first increase on 4/06 to $500 with the same APR. Today 11-2010, I went online to pay my bill and noticed I have received a credit increase and my new limit is $1,000. My current scores are Equifax 720, Experian 673 and TransUnion is 710.

Title: Target Check Card
Date Reviewed: 2010-07-17 14:34:54 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I recently was in Target in Fort Wayne Indiana doing some shopping and was asked to apply for a Target Red Card, seeing as how I Bkd on them back in 2002 I figured I wouldnt get approved, however with the decline letter a seperate form came attached inviting me to apply for the check card. You can still get the 1% credit to your school of choice and starting this fall, they are offering a program to all Red Card Holders of 5% off your total bill! So there is still a huge perk to having this card! And yes I was approved and received the card 2 weeks after mailing in the app with a voided check! They do not pull your credit bureau but they will run you through chex systems.

Title: Low CL High Interest Rate
Date Reviewed: 2010-06-15 07:28:31 | Recommended?: No

Review: We received our Target Red card 3 years ago this month. Originally our CL was $300.00 and I believe they bumped our CL up to $500.00 by December 2007. Our interest rate went from 21% on up to 30%. We have never been late, always made more than the minimum payment if not PIF. We are very careful on how we use the card, never spending more then 30% or what we can afford to pay. Remember plastic is not your money and you should never spend more then you can afford. Having the card now for 3 years, we would expect a better CL or have been upgraded to a Target Visa by now. Have considered closing out the account after we buy our house, since the CL is so little. You also have to spend a lot to get that 10% discount and the discount only applies when you use your Red Card.

Title: Great Card!
Date Reviewed: 2009-11-12 18:07:00 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I received this card in 2007. I received a credit limit increase this year - not bad considering these economic times. Great coupons and low monthly payment.

Title: Approved, But...
Date Reviewed: 2009-11-07 05:44:30 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I applied for this card so I can take advantage of the 10% off they offer when you are approved. I plan on buying an xbox 360 as a Christmas gift for someone so getting $40 bucks off seems like a good idea. I was approved for this card on October 18th of this year. I still have yet to receive my card in the mail due to address complications but I should be getting it any day now. I'm excited to have this card but I see so many people saying bad things about the Target card. I will just have to report back in a few months or so after I get some good use out of it. Does anyone happen to know if they automatically upgrade you to a Target Visa after good payment history?

Title: Ok, I Gave In And Did It Again....

Review: Sure did. This is my 3rd application with them. They sent me a letter wanting a copy of my utility bill and drivers license. Sent it in, and got the card in like 2 weeks after that... And you guessed it; the infamous 200 CL... Scores at the time were; EQ 612, EX 608 and TU 622... I am kind've regreting now since I only got the 200 CL, but I will hold on to it for now... When is the next credit addicts club meeting??? Lol...

Review: K, stumbled across this site today. Was looking for one like this months ago. Any-who, I have been cleaning up my credit. So I said "what the hell". Most of the reviews encouraged me. Have my Macy's card for over 4+ yrs. Paid up-to-date. So applied for the REDcard online. Wasn't approved instantly =~( Which I sort of expected, but felt hopeful. I've paid off all past judgments (only 2) over 2 yo. I have no open collections. Emailed received telling me that "We Need More Time to Review..."?? Confession: I'll be type pissed if they dis me... Wish me luck. Should I still go in-store and apply? Can't handle the face-to-face rejection tho... Lol

Title: First Store Card After BK7!
Date Reviewed: 2009-06-12 19:46:33 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I just applied on line and was hoping for the Visa but got approved for the store card with a $300 limit... 16.99% apr.. I have a bk7 filed 5/07 and discharged 8/07... Haven't been approved for a store card yet since the bk... Also haven't applied for a credit card or anything for that matter since August 08. No lates on credit report at all... Just the infamous bk7! my utilization on my report is kind of high so if you are contemplating applying for this reason go ahead and give it a try... As stated above I got approved with a bk 2years old and high utlization (not high dollar amount... Because I don't have a lot of credit to use) and a small medical collection account from 6 months ago.

Title: They Suck

Review: I was denied a card from them because my phone number is unlisted. I expected to be able to call them and fax them a phone bill or something, but they said 'no.' If I don't have a listed phone number, I can't have their card. They also won't take cell phone numbers or work numbers. I wasn't going to even argue with her over their dinky card with probably a $200 limit. They don't even really offer any rewards. Unbelievable.

Review: I have had this card for 6months now. I have done very well by using the card and paying in full every month. After the 3rd month I got a CLI from $200 to $500. Does anyone have a redcard with $1000 CL or know how long before this is upgraded to a Visa card?

Title: Finally

Review: I have applied over and over for this card. Everytime I did I would get a letter saying they couldn't verify my address and phone number. So I call and answered some questions and they tell me congrats your approved. I have a $200.00 credit limit. I heard that if you wait 3 months they will raise your credit limit to $500. What I'm wondering is it better to PIF or leave a balance. I really don't want to be stuck with a 200 limit forever.

Title: My Favorite Store

Review: I love shopping at Target. I was shopping back in November of 07 and charged some stuff on my Visa. When I got home and saved my stuff I was about to throw out the receipt but for some reason decided to look at it. I noticed at the bottom of the receipt it showed I was preapproved for a card and to go to customer service to apply. I figured there must be a catch. I thought about it and said to myself if I was preapproved at check out then I must be approved to apply online. I applied online and got a pending review. I waited a couple of hours and called customer service. They told me I was approved for $200. It being X-mas I max'd it out. Paid it off in full. Max'd it again. Paid it off again in full and got a credit limit increase automatically. My card now sits at $500 with a zero balance. I always pay it in full. I will wait until next X-mas and ask for the Visa upgrade.

Title: THE ONE AND ONLY

Review: Saturday, I received my denial letter in the mail... I was upset as you can imagine. I normally go to Target 2 to 3 times a month... But since I've been on a non spending spree lately I haven't been in the store for 2 months. After looking at my denial letter I've remember what the lady told me over the phone... Giving me hits to go into the store... Also remembering Meya, Wildrage2, Ash, Rockin and others telling me to go into the store... So I picked up and left. I then took out my debt card... Made a $20 purchase... Looked at the receipt..."no pre approvals". I then when back to shop... After making all purchases I went back into the cashier line again, looked behind me and asked,..."how do you apply for a card?"... The cashier smiled as I gave her my ID, in which I turned around to make sure no one was looking behind me before I get my big denial... She started to ring me up as she pull the receipt showing that I was approved for $200... I said "get out!". After making my purchase (with cash), I walked towards the door and thought... Hey I should get my 10% discount. Walking with my $59 receipt, goods and credit card approval to the customer service lane... The lady was happy to apply my purchase to my new "receipt paper card", and gave me my cash back... Added the 10% discount... My purchase was $53. I'm a happy... I'm officially in the Target Family... WOOSAH

Title: Got It

Review: I applied for this card around Christmas time and I thought that I wasn't approved. I sort of gave up on this one until I started applying for credit in late March and much to my surprise, was getting approved left and right. I decided to apply again whereupon I received correspondence from Target National Bank stating that they still had my application on file, but needed identity verification. They requested a utility bill in my name and a photocopy of my driver's license with my married name on it. I couldn't furnish either. My driver's license states my maiden name and all of my utilities are in the hubby's name. So I sent them a lengthy letter stating my position, some photocopies of receipts from online orders sent to my current address with my married name, and a photocopy of my pay stub. I let that ride for a couple weeks and voila! The Redcard comes in the mail..$200.00 limit! Should I call to ask for the Visa? Or even a CLI? It seems that everything is negotiable...

Review: I have scores in the high 500 to low 600 range and I was approved... Also have a Collection account from 2004 and 2 student loan lates of 120 to 150 days late from last year reporting... I was approved for $200 after 3 months they increased my limit to $500... I use the card a lot and always pay in full... I do not keep my balance at the recommended 30% I used up the whole $200 when my credit limit was at $200 and now I spend $300 this is my strategy for getting increases with them...(I figure if they see you spending most or all of what they give you and can pay it off in full for at least 3 consecutive months they will give you more so you have more to spend in their store..) My goal is to get upgraded to the Visa at that point I will keep my balance at 30% to improve my scores...

Review: I have not had any negative credit reported on me since 2001, but I have had my accounts sold and my old old accounts keep reporting me. So I now have 592 score. So I got some really pricey type cards and am working on them. They show paid on time for 3 months so far etc. OK I disputed 1 thing on my credit from 2001 which I have proof the apartments that turned it over to the attorney were wrong, as the damage they claimed I caused I have proof I didn't cause, with the walk through report from before I moved in. So after the dispute on that public record/collections, it said checked and lowered my balance they claim I owe from 2225 to 222. Still they claim I owe and they did lower what I owe but it didn't help my report however. THIS is what confuses me about the TARGET REDCARD. I have been approved for 1500 with Wamu and 300 with capital One and yet still denied with target. Nothing against them BUT I have just under 600 for FICO and there is NOTHING bad since 2001, have never filed BK or anything. I get Visa and Mastercard offers, and yet cant get a Target card. I don't understand it.

Review: Thanks to all the valuable information you guys provide. Because of this site; I applied for Target and got approved. Applied for Hooters yesterday. I am in the rebuilding phase and hope I get it. Got the message from Hooters that I will hear in 7-10 days. Sounds like a rejection but I will wait and see.

Title: No Rhyme Or Reason....

Review: I have had this card since 2005, started with $200 limit and I have had no limit increase. I have paid on time every month. I even tried  to get my limit raised, and was denied. Don't know why. The only good thing with Target card is their online service and you can set up Auto Pay. At this same time I got the Target, I got a Wal-Mart, starting with $100, and since I have been increased to $1025. I also got an Eddie Bauer, started with $250, and I was just increased to $1260. I got a Best Buy, started with $1200, just increased to $1600 (I had to ask for it, but I was immediately increased online). Is it the more you use the card, the more likely they are willing to increase you? Target seems stingy to me. Orchard is a good card for increases if you pay on time. I started in 2004 with $750 and I now have $1350. That was my first card since 1998, when I had a Capital One but had to C/O due to divorce. I did not think I would be able to get another CC but Orchard gave me another chance. I now have a Citi Dividend Platinum Select (started with $2300, raised to $2900 in 3 mos) and a Discover ($3K). Both were surprises! I applied for the Discover after reading a post on this site. The person said their score was way lower than what was being shown, so I tried and got approved! Yeah! My scores are low 600-670. So with patience, you can re-build too! BTW, I love this site! It is comforting to hear other people with the same issues as me! I thought I was the only one with not perfect credit!

Title: Like It If You Can Get It

Review: I app'd for this card and had horror stories about their approvals. Was I pleasantly surprised when I was instantly approved at their standard 200.00 limit and shortly thereafter upp'ed to 300.00 then 500.00 in a matter of months. Just got my upgraded Target Visa in the mail after less than a year with a 1k limit. Hey I can't complain. Wonder what the competition will think when I start charging there using my Target Visa... J/k

Title: ****I Went Back On My Word****
Date Reviewed: 2007-08-20 05:02:29 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I am so dedicated to this board and my honesty here is a must... It is going to hurt me to say this because I went back on my word... I slipped... Fell over the by the credit card machine... My ID fell out of my wallet and landed in the cashiers hand... While I was trying to pull my self up using the electronic pen... I accidentally hit the accept button... And... And... The cashier said I was approved for a $200 limit Target Red Card. Wow, now how in the world did that happen because I swore up and down that I would never apply at Target due to so many denials. Seriously folks, I tried to tell her it was a mistake... I never told her to submit my info into the computer... I tried to give the card back but she called the manager and they pushed me out of the store and threaten to call the police... I had to take the card or go to jail... What would you have done?... YOU GUYS HAVE TO BELIEVE ME!... I AM TELLING THE TRUTH! OKAY FORGET IT... YES I DID APPLY FOR THE TARGET CARD. LEAVE ME ALONE NESSA, I KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO BE THE FIRST TO CALL ME A HYPOCRITE... LOL.

Title: Same Results!

Review: Same thing happen to me too! I applied on-line and had to check with them in about 24hrs with a number they gave me and I did. Was approved for $200.00! That's a start since I applied 6 months ago in the store and was denied! Plus this October will make it 2yrs since I filed chapter 7. I love Target!!!

Title: Easy Approval
Date Reviewed: 2007-08-15 17:18:30 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I applied online after reading the other reviews and got a message that said "requires further processing." Within 2 hours I received a phone call from Target wanting to verify my identity and that someone else didn't try to open a card in my name. After I answered the questions she told me that they would send the card right out to me. I was shocked! I have a 654 FICO and am just 14 months post chapter 7 discharge and need to rebuild my credit. I don't know what my CL is... I forgot to ask.

Title: Approved Again!!!
Date Reviewed: 2007-08-06 22:28:35 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: Oh My God!! I was approved again. I remember a few months ago I applied in the store and was denied. They gave me $200.00 to start off and that's ok! I'm happy:)

Title: Denied

Review: I got the Target card with a 200.00 limit... It was easy to get since having a bankruptcy in 2002 and credit score 640 thank u Target for the second chance..

Title: Always Declined
Date Reviewed: 2007-07-10 17:45:16 | Recommended?: No

Review: I can't write a good nor bad review for this card because I am always declined everytime I apply :) I gave up on this card regardless if my credit scores hit 800, I will never apply for this card again because all I ever received was hard inquiries... Lmao

Title: Its Got Its Good And Bad Points
Date Reviewed: 2007-07-10 01:35:04 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I was getting denied by target all the time, my credit score was also above 500, but I write a lot of checks there. One day it printed out a preapproval slip after writing a check. So I filled it out an applied. The first time I was denied, I then call CS and complained. They explained that the cashier did not scan the preapproval. I went back to the store and did it again and was approved... Whew... That was in Feb 2007 since then, I have paid on time every month, had an 300.00 increase in May of 2007.

Title: Payoff Balance Each Month
Date Reviewed: 2007-07-05 18:25:16 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I rarely use my Target Red Card, and I pay off the balance at the end of each month due to the very high interest rate. However, I have to say that I have been happy with the performance of the card, and I have not had any problems with the online internet site for card management. I do find the Target 'reward' system to be a bit confusing, and I have yet to take advantage of any benefits from it.

Title: Great Card
Date Reviewed: 2007-06-22 15:54:14 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: Received card in March 2007; made three payments on-time or before due date; received a $300 increase June 2007.

Title: Approved
Date Reviewed: 2007-06-18 07:15:09 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I have a FICO of 650 and got approved for the Target card. I wanted the VISA Target but oh well. Limit is only 200 usd. Its good for rebuilding credit.

Title: Target
Date Reviewed: 2007-06-10 04:10:44 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: So far good. Got this card a few weeks ago. I filled the online app out, got instant approval and card came 5 days later.

Title: Not Bad!
Date Reviewed: 2007-04-26 16:16:25 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: Signed up for the card online... Said it would be 7-10 business days until I know anything (not instant approval)... Got the card in the mail today. $200 limit but my wife is the only one that shops there.

Title: APPROVED!!!
Date Reviewed: 2007-01-06 21:35:07 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: After reading the reviews and description from FG, I decided to apply online... I WAS APPROVED! I recently repaired my credit... But its like starting all over, because the only thing being reported is $14k in school loans, which are NOT in repayment. My card's on the way... Wish me luck! BTW... My score is like a 670 - 690... But I heard when applying for CCs they want you to have at least 1 revolving acct.

Title: Frustated
Date Reviewed: 2006-11-25 19:43:29 | Recommended?: Yes

Review: I have applied for this card a number of times. 2 of those times within the last month and each time denied. I call CSR and asked them to reconsider and was told to reapply; did that and was still denied. My credit score is 551. I don't understand.

Title: Constantly Declined
Date Reviewed: 2006-11-03 04:36:54 | Recommended?: No

Review: I'm bothered by the review which states FICO's of 478 or higher are more likely to be approved. My FICO is much higher and I've gotten declined approx. 3 times. Any body else experience similar?
